Dinner that night was a bit light hearted and it seemed like Serena's mood had completely changed from the night before. Mark didn't know what was going on with his daughter. But he was just glad that she actually showed at least a small smile upon her face while they had their dinner that night. As they were finishing up their dinner he spoke up to Serena.
"Serena, now that I have found you and you're living here with me. Once I have full custody of you we're going to have to go to court and you'll see your birth mother. I must warn you about a few things about the woman you'll see."
Serena was quiet as she nodded her head. "Of course papa. What's up?"
Mark took a deep breath and he leaned against the table. "First, your mother wil most likely brush off you as her daughter. It was because she didn't want to deal with you that you ended up in that horrible orphanage to begin with. Secondly, unless you are spoken to by a lawyer or the judge-never speak up about questions asked. Anyone else that asks you questions can't legally ask you anything."
Serena nodded her head once more. "What will happen to her after the court date?"
"I don't know, that's up to the judge and law to figure out." Mark stated with a sad sigh
Serena frowned as she looked down. "I...I don't want to see that woman if she really didn't want me that much."
Mark placed his hand on her arm softly. "I know sweetie, but this is just something that you're going to have to deal with for a short moment."
Serena let out a small sigh as she looked at her father. "Okay. When is the court date?"
"Once I am able to get full custody of you. Which we're going to go to court for tomorrow. The CPS worker who is working on your case will be there as well."
Serena nodded her head. "Okay, What time is it?"
"It's at noon. So we're going to need to leave the house at eleven to get to the court house in time." Mark said before he looked at Ciel. "I can't leave you here on your own so you'll be coming with us."
"That's fine, I am curious about what'll happen with Serena. Ever since I came to be here I had talked to her about her birth parents, knowing now that it was the harsh actions of her insane mother that had made her be where she had been when I met her. I do feel like she's doing better here than where she had been before."
Mark raised an eyebrow at the younger male. "Is that so? Do tell me what differences you've seen."
"Well first off you actually give a damn about Serena's mental health and how much she eats. Noah places his blood children before her-which always makes her have the short end of the stick. She barely ate anything while she was there from what I saw, even after she went through what she had those dolts never once thought to check up on her. It took me talking to her just to make sure she was truly going to be alright." Ciel said with his arms crossed
Mark looked stunned at Ciel before he looked at Serena. "Does he tell the truth daughter?"
"Yes, it is the truth. Uncle Noah was always so mean to me when it came to feeding me. I would always be fed last and I'd get a forth of a portion that the others would get."
Mark rubbed between his eyes, before he looked at Serena sadly "No wonder you've been eating so much while being here with me."
Serena nodded her head. "It's been so bad over there it's why CPS has gotten involved. I had passed out once during PE and my teacher got worried for me. After finding out why CPS was called about me and well-the rest is history."
Mark rubbed between his eyes. "Goodness me, here I thought Noah would do a better job of raising you. Guess even I can be wrong about things."
